Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has joked that the 2019/20 Absa Premiership campaign is the “best time” to place a bet as any team can win or lose in the bio-bubble.
This comes after log leaders Kaizer Chiefs suffered a late defeat against Bidvest Wits over the weekend and hours later the Brazilians were dealt a blow following their shock loss to Baroka FC.
Chiefs, however, maintained their lead at the top of the standings with only goal difference separating the two South African sides at the summit of the Premiership log.
Sundowns next face relegation threatened Polokwane City with hopes of Chiefs dropping points against Chippa United on Wednesday evening.
“They (Polokwane) are desperate like we are [for three points]. We’ll see how it goes. But they’re tough,” Mosimane told media ahead of the encounter.
“There is no team in the bubble you can easily beat. We are just beating each other. You never know where is it going? Who’s going to beat who?
“I think it’s the best time for bookmakers now because this thing is really unpredictable, and it can go either way.”
Mosimane then rued the chance Sundowns had over the weekend to move ahead of Chiefs, but remained optimistic ahead of Saturday’s final matchday of the season.
“We had one small chance, that lasted for a few hours, but we did not take the chance. We have never been in the driving seat, but you never know,” Mosimane continued.
“But anything is possible, so we keep going until the fat lady sings.”
All Wednesday’s Absa Premiership fixtures are scheduled for 18:00.
